バンク撃ちで活きる遠心ブレーキのメリット

マグネット化していたバンタムですが、最近遠心ブレーキに戻して使っています。
その理由は、「ショートキャストでのキャスティング・アキュラシー」の向上。
日本では琵琶湖のオフショアメインでしたが、アメリカに来てバンク撃ちが多くなった事が影響しています。

I used to replace the brake unit of my Bantam with magnetic ones, but reverted to genuine Shimano SVS brake units recently.
The reason is to improve casting accuracy for bank beating.

一般に遠心は、キャスト終盤にブレーキが抜けるため「最後のひと伸び」があるとされます。
同じ感覚でピッチングorショートキャストすると、マグネットより50cm～1m多く飛ぶイメージ。
しかしそれは慣れの問題で、マグでも1m分余計に投げてやれば同じじゃないかと思っていました。

Generally, the advantage of centrifugal brakes is considered to be able to fly more at the end of the cast.
In other words, the bait flies 2-3ft more than magnetic ones when you pitch or short cast.
But I used to think it’s the same if I make it fly 2-3ft more with magnetic ones.

ただ最近感じるのは、最後の1mが楽に伸びる事でキャストの精度が上がるという事です。
ベイトの場合飛び過ぎはサミングで抑えられますが、失速はコントロールできません。
そして距離を出そうと力を入れて投げれば投げるほど、弾道が浮いてアキュラシーが落ちやすくなります。
キャストの数十センチが釣果を分けるバンク撃ちでは、この最後の1mのコントロール性がアドバンテージになると再認識した次第です。

However, I have found that the last 2-3ft of the centrifugal brakes improves the accuracy of the cast.
Because we can keep the lure from flying too far by thumbing, but we can’t control the stall.
And the harder we cast to make it go far, the less accurate the cast has to be.
I feel that the controllability of the end of the cast should be the advantage when we beat the bank.

軽いものを投げる場合はスプールを軽くできるマグネットのメリットが活きると思いますが、このあたりは使い分けかなと思います。
ちなみにAvailシャロースプールにシマノ純正SVSを移植する際は、プラーの使用を強くお勧めします。

I think the magnetic brakes make the cast easier when we use lighter lures, so we need to use them in different ways.
By the way, I highly recommend using the ”Puller(Avail)” when you replace the SVS unit.
