アメリカに来てからというもの、ペンシルベイトを多用するようになりました。
こちらのアングラーは結構波立っていてもトップを投げるのですが、使い込んでみると確かに釣れる・・・。
日本だとトップウォーター＝鏡のような水面と言うイメージがありますが、完全に覆された印象です。
そして荒れた中で使う際は、PEのリーダーにフロロを使うのが良いとも感じました。
長さは状況に寄りけりなのですが、この方がルアーの水噛みが強くなって水面から飛び出しにくいと思うのです。
これもトップウォーター＝ナイロンというセオリーがありますが、必ずしもそうばかりでは無いなと感じた次第です。
日本では最近使う人が減って来たジャンルですが、特にこれからの時期は有効になりやすいと思うのでぜひトライしてみて下さい！

[The theory of topwater lures has been updated]
Since I came to the U.S., I have been using pencil baits more.
Anglers here cast topwater lures even when the water is choppy, and I found that works for sure.
In Japan, anglers tend to cast topwater plugs only in calm water, but I have the impression that this image has been completely overturned.
When using it in rough water, I felt that using fluorocarbon leader for the braided line was a good idea.
The length depends on the situation, but I think this way the lure grips the water harder and is less jump out.
There is a theory that the nylon line is the best for topwater lures, but I felt that this is not always the case.
