:[’26OPENサムレイバンDay2] 手のひらから滑り落ちた希望

20lb釣ってジャンプアップしなければ次が無い、追い込まれたサムレイバン戦Day2。
もはや安定したスコアでまとめても意味がないので、これまでの釣り方・場所・全てを捨てて新規開拓。
昼前までゼロという精神力を削られる展開の末、ようやく推定6lbがヒット！

Day 2 at Sam Rayburn. I needed 20lb to survive, so I threw away my entire game plan to hunt for new water. It was zero or big. After a grueling morning with an empty livewell, a 6lb monster finally bit!

しかし寄せてすぐハンドランディングしようとした瞬間バスがジャンプし、フッと抜けるラインテンション。
左手に残るヌメリの感触とともに、貧血を起こしたように一瞬視界が暗くなる・・・。
もっと泳がせれば良かったものを、焦り過ぎて手を出した、痛恨のミス。

I rushed the landing. As I reached out, she jumped—the line went slack. I felt the slime on my hand my vision went dark. I should’ve let her swim more, but I rushed.
My impatience cost me everything.

クラクラしながらもデッキに立ち直すと、ついて来た2匹が帰っていくのが魚探に映ります。
すぐに進行方向に投げ直すと、同サイズが連続ヒット！
ところが、結び直していなかったノットが限界を迎え・・・ここで希望の糸は切れました。

But I saw two more big fish swimming away on my sonar.
So I cast again immediately and hooked another big one!
But my knot was already weak, and… My hope broke there.

以後は再びビッグワンを探しながらかき集めるも、狙いのサイズには出会えず5尾11lb-7oz。
総合120位まで順位を落とし、一か八かの賭けには敗れました。
リスクを取った戦略に後悔はありません。ただただ、力が及ばなかった。
しばらくは悪夢にうなされるでしょう。

I kept searching for another big one, but I couldn’t find the size I needed. I finished with 5 fish for 11lb-7oz, dropping to 120th place. My “all or nothing” gamble failed. I have no regrets about the risk I took—I just wasn’t strong enough. This nightmare will haunt me for a while.

そして残念ながら私の今年のOPEN再挑戦は、ここで幕を下ろすことになりました。
悔し過ぎるけれど、エリートプロも集まるハイレベルなOPENで戦いたい思いは強くなるばかり。
もっと強くなって、きっとまたこの舞台に帰って来たいと思います。

Unfortunately, my journey in the OPENs ends here for this year. It’s incredibly frustrating, but competing at this high level has only made my passion stronger. I will become a better angler and definitely return to this stage. I’ll be back, stronger than ever.

また今回は、子供の頃から憧れていたレジェンドの方々とも同じ試合を戦えて本当に光栄でした。
ともに夢を追いかける、日本の選手の皆さんとのご縁も大切な宝物です。
そして最後になりましたが、不甲斐ない私をいつも応援して下さる皆様に心から感謝いたします。

It was a true honor to compete alongside the legends I’ve admired since childhood. The bonds with my fellow anglers chasing the same dream are my treasures. Finally, thank you to everyone who supports me. I’m sorry I couldn’t do better, but I’m truly grateful.
