今年から試している新しいスパイラルガイドシステム、”ストローガイド”セッティング。
ブランクのねじれを無くし、反発力を最大限に引き出すセッティングとの事ですが・・・。
実際にビッグフィッシュを何本かかけてみると、確かに同じ竿でもトルクが上がったような感じがします。
動画は川スモール2kgオーバーの半端じゃないファイトなのですが、ロッドが上手くいなして浮かせてくれています。
注目は右へ左へと突っ走る魚の動きに、スムーズにブランクが追従している点。
これが通常のベイトのガイドセッティングだと、スパインが裏返る時にクリンと「ロッドが笑って」しまいやすいと思います。
この時一瞬ラインテンションが抜けるのがバラシに繋がると考えていて、その意味では実際キャッチ率に影響すると思います。
異色のセッティングですが、考えるほど、使うほど合理的。
ぜひ一度試してみて頂きたいと思います。

[Effects of “Straw Guide Setting”]
I have been experimenting with a new spiral guide system, called “Straw Guide Setting”, since this year.
It is said that this setting eliminates the twisting of the rod blank and maximizes its resilience.
When I actually caught some big fish, I felt that the lifting power of the same rod had been increased.
The video shows a fight with a 5lb-class river smallmouth, and you can see the rod is able to absorb the rush of the fish.
The important point is that the rod blank smoothly follows the movement of the fish, which is rushing to the right and to the left.
If this were a normal guide setting for casting rods, it would be easy for the rod spine to flip over.
I believe that the momentary loss of line tension at this point leads to hook-off, and in this sense, it actually influences the catching rate.
It is a unique setting, but the more you think about it and use it, the more rational it becomes.
I would like you to give it a try.
