皆さんこんにちは、ディープストリームのKen-D(けんでぃ)です。
沸騰するライブスコープ禁止or制限ルールの話題から、新たにアメリカツアーに興味を持って下さった方も多いようで・・・。
「ところで、バスマスターEliteとバスプロツアーはどちらが上なのでしょうか？」というご質問を頂きました。

“Which is better, Bassmaster Elite or Bass Pro Tour? “
As I have received this question, I would like to briefly summarize the current U.S. tournament situation.

良い機会なので簡単にまとめておきますと、BassmasterエリートはB.A.S.S.という競技団体が開催しているトップツアー。
それに対してBass Pro Tour(BPT) は、メジャーリーグフィッシング(MLF)という別の団体が開催しているトップツアーになります。
なのでレースならF1とインディカー、ボクシングならWBAとWBC、ちょっと違うけど野球ならセ・リーグとパ・リーグみたいな感じでしょうか。

To summarize briefly, Bassmaster Elite is the top tour organized by the B.A.S.S. .
The Bass Pro Tour (BPT), on the other hand, is the top tour organized by another organization called Major League Fishing (MLF).
It is like the relationship between F1 and IndyCar in racing, the WBA and WBC in boxing, or the American League and National League in baseball.

ですので基本的にどちらが上と言うことは無いのですが、ファンとしては実際どちらの方がハイレベルなのか？は気になります。
これはルールも異なるので水掛け論なのですが、バスプロツアーの方がレベルが高いという意見は根強くあります。
なぜなら2019年のBPT発足時に、エリートから68名もの選手が大量移籍したという事情があるからです。

So basically there is no one better than the other, but as a fan we are curious about it.
This is a convoluted argument because the rules are different, but there is a strong opinion that the Bass Pro Tour is at a higher level.
This is due to the circumstances of the mass transfer of 68 players from the Elite to the BPT in 2019.

しかもバスプロツアーには、絶対的と言える無敵のチャンピオン“ジェイコブ・ウィーラー”がいます。
ウィーラーは今年BPT通算3度目のAOYを獲得し、何と6年のシーズンのうち半分を一人で制した計算。
エリートvsBPTの議論には様々意見がありますが、世界最強アングラーはウィーラーという見方に異論がある人はいないでしょう。

Moreover, there is an unbeatable champion, Jacob Wheeler in the Bass Pro Tour who won his third AOY this year.
The Elite vs. the BPT debate is a contentious one, but no one would argue that Wheeler is the best angler in the world.

ただし近年、BPTの人気低迷によりエリートに選手が出戻る動きが加速。
パラニュークやハックニー、ジョーダン・リーと言った有力選手が次々とB.A.S.S.に復帰しています。
両団体のパワーバランスは、急速に変化している真っ最中と言うことが出来るでしょう。

In recent years, however, the decline in popularity of the BPT has accelerated the movement of players back to the Elite.
Leading players such as Palahniuk, Hackney, and Jordan Lee have returned to B.A.S.S. one after another.
The balance of power between the two organizations is rapidly changing.

しかもエリートに戻った選手が活躍しているかと言うと、実はそうでもありません。
なぜなら近年エリートに昇格してきた若手の台頭が凄まじく、過去のチャンピオンたちを蹴散らしているからです。
つまり強力な新世代アングラーとカムバックしてきたチャンピオンたちにより、今やエリートのレベルはBPTを凌ぐまでに回復したという見方もあるのです。

Moreover, it is not so easy to say whether the players who have returned to the elite are playing an active role in the tournament.
This is because, in recent years, young anglers who have been promoted to the Elite have been beating the champions of the past.
In other words, with strong young anglers and returning champions, some believe that the Elite has now recovered competitively to surpass the BPT.

そうした見方を反映し、Bassfanの最新ランキングでも上位10名はエリート5人：BPT5人と拮抗。
これはファン投票によるランキングではありますが、一定の参考にはなるでしょう。
最終的には交流戦でもして決着をつけるしかありませんが、あなたの意見はどうでしょうか？

Reflecting this view, the top 10 in Bassfan’s latest ranking are also close, with 5 Elites: 5 BPTs.
Although this is a fan-voted ranking, it can be used as a reference.
In the end, the only way to settle this is to have an exchange match, but what is your thoughts?
