ジャークベイトやジグ、チャター等、クラシックでは多様なルアーが活躍しましたが・・・
優勝のディランはじめ、多くのアングラーが活用していたのが”ジグヘッドミノー”。
使い方はいわゆるミドストなのですが、どんなセッティングをしているのか紹介してみます。

まずジグヘッドはラウンドの90°アイで、ウェイトは5g前後がベーシック。
ワームは5″のサカマタシャッドが人気で、他にZ-tooやフリーローダーも多いですが・・・
プロはスポンサーの関係で、写真は別でも実際はサカマタという事もあるので注意が必要です。

The basic setup: a 90° round eye jig head around 3/16oz paired with a 5″ Sakamata Shad.
While Z-too and Freeloaders are popular, keep in mind that some pros might be using Sakamata behind the scenes regardless of their sponsors.

Nutt’s stellar Sunday on Tennessee

注目ポイントは結び方で、近年はフリーノットを使う選手が増えている印象です。
これは縦アイに対して、ノットが前方にズレて固定されてしまわないようにするため。
こうしてリグをきっちりとロールさせるのが、今のアメリカでのスタンダードになっています。

One key trend is to tie with Free knots (loop knots).
It prevents the knot from sliding forward on vertical line eyes.
This ensures the rig gets that perfect rolling action— it seems the current standard.

またタックルは結構強めで、ラインもPE1.2号前後にリーダー12lb前後を組み合わせるのが標準。
ファイトタイムを短くできる上、素早く抜き上げてしまえるのが重視されているようです。
あとはある程度太いラインの方が、良いアクションも出しやすいですよね。

Tackles are strong enough for short fight times and quick landings.
Standard seems to be braided line + around 12lb leader.
I think a thicker line also helps generate better rolling action.
