話題沸騰のライブスコープ2、長距離の44かそれとも高解像度の42HDか・・・
悩みは尽きませんが、Moose Marineさんから面白い比較表が出ていました。
こうして数字にして並べてみると、宣伝文句からは気付かなかった事が色々見えてきます。

The hot topic: LiveScope 2. Long-range LVS44 or high-res 42HD?
While we all debate, Moose Marine dropped a fascinating comparison chart.
Seeing the numbers side-by-side reveals quite a few things that standard marketing buzzwords completely hide.

1つ目は、”LVS44はそこまで遠距離用じゃない”と言う事。
LVS34からは15mほど射程が伸びましたが、それでも長距離用の62と比べると半分しか届きません。
つまり62の代替というよりも、全方位に少しづつ進化した中距離型34と考えるべきなのでしょう。

First takeaway: The LVS44 isn’t actually a “long-range” beast.
While its range is about 50ft longer than the LVS34, it’s still only half that of the true long-range LVS62.
Instead of an LVS62 replacement, it’s better to see it as an upgraded, mid-range LVS34.

2つ目は、42HDの実用射程距離はかなり短いかもと言う点。
34の射程距離は公称約60mですが、もちろん60m先の魚をシューティングする事は出来ません。
ルアーも映せる実用範囲は、状況にもよりますがざっくり半分程度の30mほどではないでしょうか。

Second: The 42HD’s practical range might be quite short.
The 34 claims a 200ft range, but you can’t actually shoot fish that far out.
In reality, the practical range where you can trace your lure is roughly half that—around 100ft depending on conditions.

そしてもし42HDも同じなら、実用的なライブシューティング範囲は20m位までになる計算です。
近距離で精密に食わせるだけなら良いですが、少し距離を取りたい時に困る可能性があります。
その意味では潰しが効かない、かなりの近距離特化型ソナーと考えるべきなのかもしれません。

If the 42HD follows the same rule, its practical scoping range drops to just around 60ft.
Great for precision close-up bites, but tough if you want to keep your distance.
It seems to be a highly specialized, short-range sonar rather than an all-rounder.
