さあ今週から、いよいよ’26エリートシリーズを締めくくる北部2連戦が始まります。
注目はもちろんAOY争いで、暫定トップを走る”神童”トレイ・マッキニー。
それを16ポイント差で追うのが、カナダのジョンストン兄弟の兄・コリーです。

This week, the final two northern events of the 2026 Elite Series begin.
All eyes are on the AOY race. Trey McKinney is leading, but Cory Johnston, the older brother of the Johnston brothers from Canada, is right behind him by 16 points.

トレイはたった1年でオープンから駆け上がり、2024年に史上最年少でエリートデビュー。
ルーキーイヤーにいきなり年間2位を獲得し、ルーキー・オブザイヤーも受賞。
翌2025年もAOYレースで2位を獲るなど、破竹の快進撃を続けてきました。

Trey moved up from the Opens in just one year and debuted in 2024 as the youngest Elite angler ever. In his rookie year, he took 2nd place overall and won Rookie of the Year. In 2025, he finished 2nd in the AOY race again, continuing his amazing run.

しかしそのチャンピオン獲得の前に立ちはだかったのが、ジョンストン兄弟の弟・クリス。
Bassmaster史上初の外国人チャンピオンに、それも2年連続で輝いたのです。
今年は現在29位とつまづきましたが、代わって兄・コリーがタイトル争いに浮上してきたのです。

However, Chris Johnston, the younger brother, stood in his way to the championship.
Chris became the first non-American Bassmaster champion and won two years in a row.
This year Chris is in 29th, but his older brother Cory is now fighting for the title.

というわけで、神童 vs ジョンストン兄弟という因縁の対決となっている今年のタイトル争い。
ポイントではトレイがリードするものの、今週のシャンプレイン戦はFFS禁止という未知の展開。
ウィードだらけのノースでラージ戦略を得意とするコリーが猛追を見せるのか、要注目です！

So this year’s title race is a rival rematch: the Prodigy vs the Johnston brothers.
Trey leads in points, but this week at Lake Champlain, Forward Facing Sonar (FFS) is banned.
Will Cory, who is great at largemouth in northern grassy lakes, catch up?

ちなみに日本勢の最上位は藤田京弥選手の32位で、伊藤巧選手はクラシック圏外の41位。
木村建太選手はエリート降格が危惧される96位で、ラスト2戦のジャンプアップが期待されます。
日本人はライブスコープ無しでは勝てないという前評判を、ひっくり返す活躍を願っています！
