一般に、魚探の釣りやフィネスが好きではないアングラーが多いようですが・・・
Ken-Dさんは好き嫌いは無いんですか？と質問を頂きました。
私は釣れるなら何でもやるというスタンスで、それは”釣果に謙虚”でありたいと思うからです。

Generally, it seems many anglers dislike finesse fishing or scoping.
Someone asked me, “Don’t you have any preferences in fishing style?”
My style is simple: if it catches fish, I’ll do it.
Because I want to stay humble toward the bass.

どういうことかと言いますと、釣りには実に様々な格言があります。
春はシャローだとか、シンカーは軽い方が食うとか、トップは波紋が消えるまで待つだとか・・・
しかしそういうセオリーを学んでも、実際の釣りには役に立たないことが多かったのです。

Fishing is full of sayings like “Big bait, big fish”, “Red works in spring”, and “Follow the bait”.
But personally, they have not really worked for me on the water.

一方で本当によく釣る人達は発想が柔軟で、一見非常識な方法で釣りまくる事にも気付きました。
春にディープで爆釣したり、2ozシンカーで釣りまくったり、汚いトロロモからロクマルを抜いたり・・・
なぜたどり着いたのか聞いてみると、返事は決まって「やってみたら釣れた」だったのです。

On the other hand, I’ve noticed that real hammers are truly open-minded.
Sometimes they catch them deep in spring, fish with a 2oz weight, land giants with micro baits.
And their answer is always the same: “I just tried it, and it caught them.”

ここから私が学んだのは、「釣り方の”押し付け”は釣れない」という事でした。
釣り人はそれぞれ得意なルアー、好きなスタイル、独自の理論を持っています。
しかし当の魚にとってみれば、そんなもの知ったことではありません。

What I’ve learned from this is: forcing our own style only leads to losing fish.
Every angler has their own style, lure preferences, and personal theories.
But we have to remember – fish never care about any of these.

だからもし釣果にコミットするならば、注意深く魚の声に耳を傾けなければいけない。
早い話が、釣れないなら自分の釣りが間違っていると謙虚に切り替えるべきだという事です。
そうして正解にたどり着くアングラーこそが、一番カッコイイと私は感じています。
(個人の価値観です)

So if we’re committed to catching fish, we have to listen to bass carefully.
In other words, we have to change our approach if we aren’t catching them.
And I personally think those guys who can adjust and crush it are the coolest.
