エリート第5戦のキーベイトになったのが、”黄色いフルークのノーシンカー”。
サウスカロライナに伝わる、クリアウォーターでの水面ボイルの切り札らしいのですが・・・。
加藤誠司さんに話したら、「日本でも定番カラー」なのだそうです！なぜかというと・・・

Weightless yellow Flukes were the key bait at the Elite #5 on Lake Murray.
It seems to be a local technique for the herring spawn boils in clear water.
I talked to Seiji Kato, a renowned lure builder, and he said it’s a standard color in Japan as well. 

そのフルークの使い方をLIVEで見ていると、どうもi字リトリーブみたいなのです。
そして日本のi字のエキスパートの間では、”黒か黄色”がスタンダードなのだとか。
言われてみれば琵琶湖でi字が炸裂した加藤さんの動画でも、ダークスモークが使われています。

I saw on Bassmaster Live that they seemed to be retrieving it straight.
When using it that way, Seiji said black and yellow are popular colors among Japanese experts.
Actually, he used a dark smoke color in his video on Lake Biwa.

クリアウォーターだとついリアル系の色を選びたくなりますが、水面直下は色が認識しづらい領域。
加えてi字は究極にアクションが地味なので、水面に映る背中の色で目立たせるという事のようです。
まあ理屈はともかく、達人たちの膨大な経験が導き出したカラーセレクト、ぜひ参考にして下さい！

We tend to choose more baitfish-like colors in clear water, but it’s hard to recognize the color in the subsurface.
Additionally, because that kind of retrieve is so stealthy, we need to appeal with standout colors.
Anyway, try those colors proven to be good by many expert anglers!
